What Goes
On At Camp Quest West?Good Old-Fashioned Outdoor
Fun
Archery, canoeing, campfire,
star-gazing, swimming, a field trip to the Yuba, skits, hiking, team
games...and more!
Freethought Activities
What is Freethought? Broadly, it means cultivating curiosity,
questioning and a certain disdain for just taking the word of
authority; demanding evidence and knowing you can make your own
observations even if they lead you to disagree. In terms of
activities, these can run the gamut from science games to humanist
"life skills" activities - but always fun! fun! fun! Some of these
activities include:
- Simulations
- Double blind studies - Emily Rosa's
experiment (even kids can do science!)
- Pseudo-science - psychic testing,
testing water dowsing
- Taste testing (are you sure you like
Pepsi better?)
- History and hogswallop - wild claims
about ancient Rome and how you can look for Evidence for things
that happened in the past!
- Ethics puzzlers
- Creating our own UFO photos
- Creating humanist myths
- Dealing with teasing (with masks!)
- And More!
